“How Athletes Can Attract More Success”
It’s game time and you’re about to take the field or the court! You’re feeling a mixture of excitement and anticipation as your prepare your heart and mind for the competition. You want to perform your best and most of all you want to help your team win! Have you ever noticed that people are attracted to success and winning? People come to see Lebron James because he is a very talented and successful basketball player and he helps his team win. People go to see the Detroit Redwings play because they are a very successful pro hockey team with the most winningest seasons and the most championships in the NHL.
We know that people want to be around success and winning, but how can we attract that same value to ourselves? How can we become sought after? If you are a high school student-athlete you’re wanting to grab the attention of coaches and college scouts so you can earn a D1 scholarship. If you are in college you’re wanting to grab the attention of coaches and scouts on the professional level. And if you are a professional athlete you’re wanting to increase your value on the team to land bigger contracts and keep your spot on a pro team roster. Also with increased value and success come endorsements and sponsorships which mean more money!
Jim Rohn is one of the greatest teachers and mentors when it comes to helping people learn how to become successful in the market place. The key is a concept called Personal Development. Wikipedia defines Personal Development as: “activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.”
Jim Rohn said that his mentor taught him that it’s not what happens to us in life but the key is what we do about it. If we want to start the process of change or improving our lives and circumstances then we have to make changes in our actions and habits. Whether its relationship, health, academics, communication skills or athletic abilities we have the power to increase our value in those areas. We cannot change our circumstance but we can change ourselves and in changing ourselves we eventually change our circumstances.
For example my best friend Mark Parson is a 3 year NFL veteran. During is experience in the NFL he played for the Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints. Mark was not drafted into the NFL but was signed as a un-drafted free agent. This meant he had to work extra hard and smart to make himself stand out from the other athlete he was competing against for a roster spot. I remember have conversations on the phone with Mark while he was in camp with the Houston Texans. He would tell me how hot it was in Houston, Texas and how he was leaning new things to improve his technique as a cornerback so that he could stand out and make plays. Mark was also using some good nutrition supplements that was helping him recovery better, gave him lots of energy and help to increase his stamina and endurance. He started using NUTRILITE® DOUBLE X® Vitamin/ Mineral/ Phytonutrient because he learned about plant based supplements and how they would help fill his nutritional gaps in his diet. This plant based food supplement help give his body the fuel it needed for him to train harder and longer so he could run faster, get stronger and have more endurance.
Here’s another tip to attracting success…
What you have right now in your life you have attracted to you by the person you have become. This is why we must take responsibility for where we are in life and not make excuse or blame other people.
So how do we change?
To have more we simply have to become more. Jim Rohn said a major key to personal development is not to wish it was easier but to wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Once we start working on ourself and making personal changes our lives will change and we will increase our personal value and attract success to ourselves.
Imagine that basketball player who is told his dribbling skills are not good enough. That basketball player begins to study how to increase his dribbling skills and starts practicing. Over time he increases his skills which in turn increases his value and attracts success to himself. It’s all about becoming better, increasing our value and making a personal decision to Increase our skills. That’s how we attract more success and value to our lives. Whether you are a lacrosse player or a swimmer we can always get better and increase our abilities.
