NFL Cornerback Tip: Lesson Learned From Washington Redskins Hall of Famer Cornerback
This information is one of those “Aha!” moments because I actually was doing this while in high school. When I heard my mentor Washington Redskins Hall of Fame football player Darrell Green telling me the logistics of why this works I knew that I was on to something. The position of Cornerback you are basically in a bad position compared to the wide receiver. Think about it, the wide receiver knows when the ball will be snapped, where he is running and the logistics of the whole play and he is running forward while usually the cornerback is back pedaling. The cornerback has to react to what the wide receiver does and that requires a certain type of athlete and a certain type of mentality.
What type of training can prepare you for most of the time being screwed? lol yes basically practicing being screwed is the only thing that can prepare you to overcome this serious disadvantage. I learned that hey if I can be this guy even when I am in the worst possible position, I WIN!!! If a Hall of famer cornerback who played 20 years in the NFL is doing this type of training, then what does that mean for you and me? Pretty simple, we need to be doing this more often in order to become great at cornerback.
